Michał Wojnarowski


Author, lyricist and translator, graduate of the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Warsaw. He has been literary manager of ROMA Musical Theatre since 2015. Earlier he had been Creative Director of the Walt Disney Company (Poland) for many years.

He penned the original lyrics for “The Pilots” musical, as well as for many other theatrical projects (e.g. “Me and Jezebel”, “The Morning After”, “The Winter's Tale”), TV series (e.g. “Do dzwonka” and “Do dzwonka Café” for the Disney Channel and “Tylko miłość” for Polsat TV) and Polish feature films (e.g. “Klub włóczykijów”, “Rock'n'Roll Eddie”). He also was one of the co-writers of the screenplay for “Jasne błękitne okna” feature film (directed by Bogusław Linda).

As translator he adapted the following musicals into Polish: ‟Billy Elliot”, ‟Our House” and ‟The Merry Wives” (Rozrywka Theatre in Chorzów), ‟Spring Awakening” (Rozrywka Theatre in Chorzów and Danuta Baduszkowa Musical Theatre in Gdynia), ‟Doris Day—A Sentimental Journey” (Jan Kochanowski Theatre in Radom), ‟Kinky Boots” (Dramatyczny Theatre in Warsaw), ‟The Last Five Years” and ‟Once” (ROMA Musical Theatre). He also adapted lyrics of hundreds of feature film songs for Polish dubbing (including titles like “Coco”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Moana”, “Frozen”, “Tangled”, “Mary Poppins”, “Trolls”) and translated many theatrical movies (e.g. “Deadpool 2”, “Wonder Woman”, “Logan”, “Suicide Squad”, “Penguins of Madagascar” and the Hobbit trilogy.)

He is a lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (Department of Vocal and Acting Studies).
